The VCU Medical Center is home to the health sciences schools of Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Medicine (including the School of Public Health), Nursing and Pharmacy, making it the only academic medical center in Central Virginia. The center also boasts a hospital with the only Level I Trauma Center in the region; the National Cancer Institute-designated Massey Cancer Center, which is one of only 61 in the U.S.; and numerous clinics with more than 200 specialty areas in fields such as organ transplantation, head and spinal cord trauma and burn treatment.
